Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Downward and Upward"" is a novel written by Lizzie Bates and published in 1871. The story follows the life of a young woman named Grace who is forced to leave her home and move to the city after her father's death. In the city, Grace faces many challenges and struggles to make a living. She eventually finds work as a seamstress and meets a wealthy man named Mr. Graham who offers to help her. However, Grace's pride and determination to succeed on her own terms leads her to refuse his help. Along the way, Grace also meets a kind and compassionate man named Frank who becomes her friend and confidant. As Grace navigates the ups and downs of city life, she learns important lessons about love, friendship, and the importance of staying true to oneself. The novel is a classic example of 19th-century literature and provides a glimpse into the social and economic challenges faced by women during that time period. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
