English Bells and Bell Lore: A Book on Bells is a comprehensive volume on the history, construction, and cultural significance of bells in England. Written by Thomas North and originally published in 1888, the book covers a wide range of topics related to bells, including their use in churches, secular buildings, and public spaces; their symbolic and ritualistic significance; and the technical aspects of bell-making and ringing. The book also explores the folklore and legends associated with bells, such as the belief that ringing a church bell during a storm could dispel lightning. With numerous illustrations and anecdotes, English Bells and Bell Lore is a fascinating exploration of a ubiquitous yet often overlooked aspect of English culture. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
