Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Gertrude Lee: Or The Northern Cousin is a novel written by A Lady and published in 1856. It tells the story of Gertrude Lee, a young woman from the South who goes to live with her Northern cousin, Mary, in New York City. Gertrude is initially hesitant about the move, but soon finds herself drawn to the city's vibrant culture and the opportunities it offers. She also becomes involved in the abolitionist movement, which puts her at odds with some of her Southern relatives. As Gertrude navigates the complexities of her new life, she must also confront her own prejudices and assumptions about people from different backgrounds. The novel explores themes of family, identity, and social justice, and offers a glimpse into the social and political climate of mid-19th century America. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
