Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Is Russia Wrong? A Series Of Letters By A Russian Lady (1878) is a collection of letters written by Olga Alekseevna Novikova, a Russian aristocrat and writer, in response to criticisms of Russia's policies and society. The letters were originally published in the Russian newspaper Novoe Vremya and were later translated into English. In the letters, Novikova defends Russia against accusations of despotism, backwardness, and oppression of minorities. She argues that Russia has a unique and valuable culture and that its government is working to modernize and improve the lives of its citizens. Novikova also addresses issues such as women's rights, education, and the role of the church in Russian society. The book provides a fascinating glimpse into the intellectual and political debates of late 19th-century Russia and offers insights into the mindset of the country's elite. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
