Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Memoir Of David Tappan Stoddard: Missionary To The Nestorians is a biographical account of the life and work of David Tappan Stoddard, a missionary who dedicated his life to spreading Christianity among the Nestorian people in the mid-19th century. The book, written by Joseph Parrish Thompson and published in 1859, chronicles Stoddard's early life, his decision to become a missionary, and his journey to the Middle East. The memoir describes Stoddard's struggles and successes in establishing a mission among the Nestorians, a Christian sect that had been isolated from the rest of the world for centuries. It details his efforts to learn the local language and customs, and his interactions with the Nestorian people, who were initially suspicious of him and his mission. The book also provides an insight into the political and social conditions of the region during the time, including the conflict between the Ottoman Empire and Persia, and the role of European powers in the region. Throughout the memoir, Thompson portrays Stoddard as a man of great faith, courage, and compassion, who was deeply committed to his mission and the people he served. The book is a testament to the power of faith and the impact that one person can have on the lives of others. Overall, Memoir Of David Tappan Stoddard: Missionary To The Nestorians is a fascinating historical account of a little-known chapter in the history of Christian missions, and a tribute to the life and legacy of a remarkable man. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
