Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

On Post-Epic Or Imitative Words In Homer is a scholarly work written by Frederick Apthorp Paley in 1879. The book explores the use of imitative words in Homer's epic poems, the Iliad and the Odyssey. Paley argues that these words, which imitate sounds or actions, are not simply ornamental, but serve an important function in the poems, conveying meaning and emotion in a way that traditional language cannot. He examines specific examples of imitative words in Homer's works, providing detailed analysis and commentary. The book also includes a discussion of the historical and cultural context in which Homer's poems were composed, as well as the broader literary tradition of imitative language in ancient Greek literature. Overall, On Post-Epic Or Imitative Words In Homer is a valuable resource for scholars and students of ancient Greek literature, as well as anyone interested in the history and evolution of language. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
