Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Canon of the Holy Scriptures: Examined in the Light of History is a book written by Louis Gaussen, originally published in 1862. The book is an examination of the historical evidence for the canonicity of the books of the Bible. Gaussen argues that the canon of Scripture was not determined by the authority of the church, but rather by the internal evidence of the books themselves. He examines the historical evidence for the inclusion of each book in the canon, including the testimony of early Christian writers and the decisions of church councils. Gaussen also addresses objections to the canonicity of certain books, such as the Apocrypha. The book is written from a Protestant perspective and is intended to defend the Protestant canon of Scripture. Overall, The Canon of the Holy Scriptures is a scholarly work that provides a comprehensive examination of the historical evidence for the canonicity of the books of the Bible. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
