Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Country Band is a novel written by Henry Augustus Shute and first published in 1908. The story is set in the fictional town of Mercer, located in the countryside of New England, and follows the lives of a group of musicians who form a band. The main character, Jim Hooker, is a young man who dreams of becoming a famous musician. He joins the band and quickly becomes its leader, but not without facing challenges and obstacles along the way. The other members of the band include a fiddler, a clarinet player, a drummer, and a singer. Together, they travel around the countryside, playing at dances and other events, and gradually gain a following. Along the way, they encounter various characters, including a wealthy businessman who offers to sponsor them, a young woman who becomes Jim's love interest, and a rival band that tries to sabotage their success. The novel explores themes of ambition, love, friendship, and the struggles of small-town life. With its vivid descriptions of the landscape and the music, The Country Band offers a charming and nostalgic portrayal of rural America at the turn of the 20th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
