Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Crimes Of The Clergy: Or The Pillars Of The Priest-Craft Shaken is a book written by William Benbow in 1823. The book is a scathing critique of the clergy and their perceived abuses of power. Benbow argues that the clergy have historically used their positions of authority to oppress and exploit the masses, and that this has led to a number of social ills, including poverty, ignorance, and superstition. He also accuses the clergy of corruption, hypocrisy, and sexual misconduct, and calls for a radical reformation of the church. The book is notable for its strong language and uncompromising tone, and was considered highly controversial at the time of its publication. Despite this, it had a significant impact on the reform movement of the early 19th century, and helped to pave the way for a more secular and democratic society. With An Appendix, Entitled The Scourge Of Ireland.
