Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Clergy Reserves: Their History And Present Position is a book written by Charles Lindsey and published in 1851. The book provides a detailed history of the Clergy Reserves, a controversial issue in Canadian politics during the mid-19th century. The Clergy Reserves were a collection of land grants set aside by the British Crown for the support of the Anglican Church in Canada. However, the issue of how these lands were to be distributed and used became a source of conflict between the Anglican Church and other religious groups, as well as between English and French Canadians. Lindsey's book explores the history of the Clergy Reserves from their creation in the late 18th century to the political debates surrounding their disposition in the 1840s and 1850s. He also provides an analysis of the present position of the Clergy Reserves and argues for their abolition. The book is an important historical document that sheds light on the complex political and religious landscape of early Canada.Showing The Systematic Attempts That Have Been Made To Establish In Connection With The State, A Dominant Church In Canada, With A Full Account Of The Rectories. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
