Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Four Gospels in Syriac: Transcribed from the Sinaitic Palimpsest is a book written by Robert Lubbock Bensly in 1894. The book is a transcription of the four gospels of the New Testament in the Syriac language, which was spoken in the Middle East during the time of Jesus. The transcription is based on a manuscript known as the Sinaitic Palimpsest, which is a parchment manuscript that was reused in the 6th century to write Syriac text over an earlier Greek text. The book contains a detailed introduction that provides historical and linguistic context for the Syriac language and the Sinaitic Palimpsest. It also includes a comparison of the Syriac text to the Greek text of the New Testament and notes on variations in the text. The Four Gospels in Syriac: Transcribed from the Sinaitic Palimpsest is a valuable resource for scholars and students of biblical studies, linguistics, and Middle Eastern history. With An Introduction By Agnes Smith Lewis. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
