The Authenticity, Character, and Purpose of the Fourth Gospel is a book written by Frederic Thomas Dalton in 1879. This book is an in-depth analysis of the Gospel of John, one of the four Gospels in the New Testament of the Christian Bible. Dalton examines the authenticity of the Gospel, looking at its historical and textual evidence, and argues that it was written by the apostle John. He also explores the character of the Gospel, examining its unique style, structure, and themes, and argues that it is distinct from the other Gospels. Finally, Dalton discusses the purpose of the Gospel, arguing that it was written to provide a theological and spiritual interpretation of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. This book is a valuable resource for scholars and students of biblical studies, as well as anyone interested in the history and interpretation of the New Testament. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
