Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The First and Second Philippic Orations is a book written by the ancient Roman statesman and orator Cicero, Marcus Tullius. The book was originally published in 1874 and contains two orations, the first and second Philippic, along with short English notes. The Philippic orations were a series of speeches given by Cicero against Mark Antony, a powerful Roman politician and general, in the years following the assassination of Julius Caesar. The speeches were intended to rally the Roman people against Antony and his supporters, whom Cicero saw as a threat to the stability of the Republic. The First Philippic was delivered in 44 BC and the Second Philippic in 43 BC. The book provides a valuable insight into the political climate of ancient Rome and Cicero's role as a statesman and orator. The short English notes included in the book help to clarify the meaning of the text and provide additional context for modern readers. Overall, The First and Second Philippic Orations is a fascinating historical document that sheds light on one of the most turbulent periods in Roman history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
