Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""The Issue of 1880: Speech of Roscoe Conkling"" is a historical document that captures the political climate of the United States during the presidential election of 1880. Roscoe Conkling, a prominent Republican politician and senator from New York, delivered this speech at a convention in Chicago, where he endorsed Ulysses S. Grant for the Republican nomination. Conkling's speech addresses the major issues that were facing the country at the time, including civil service reform, the economy, and foreign policy. He argues that Grant, a former president and military hero, is the best candidate to address these issues and restore order to the government. The book provides a firsthand account of Conkling's speech and the political landscape of the late 19th century. It is a valuable resource for historians, political scientists, and anyone interested in American politics and history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
