Irony and symbolism, which she uses creating her characters in their interpersonal relationships, tell us about the skill of writing. The author often criticizes society but it's more to amuse herself and her readers than to provoke and to fix things. She makes fun out of the society's flaws, pointing her finger at them to ridicule them, which is thus fulfilling the social function of humor and satire.She starts her book with a paradox, "Yuck, you are sane!" and shows us the inversion of what is today accepted as normal and sane in this upside down world and its constant changes.
