This first Mesolithic conference in Austria provided a welcome opportunity to present the Central European state of research on an international stage. These proceedings, which feature 11 papers covering a range of topics and geographical setting, serve to enhance the sustainability of this important conference: from excavation reports and research histories to studies on material culture from the marshes of Northern Poland to the Alpine highlands of the Alps and to the Adriatic coast. In addition, new data or sites that have not yet been published in English are made available to an international audience. This publication serves as a valuable reference for future collaborations and research on the Mesolithic in Central Europe.
