Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling is a novel written by Henry Fielding. The book tells the story of Tom Jones, a young man who is abandoned as a baby and raised by a kindly squire. Tom grows up to be a charming and handsome young man, but his life is full of challenges and adventures. Along the way, he falls in love with several women, including the beautiful Sophia Western. However, their love is threatened by the scheming of Sophia's father, who wants her to marry a wealthy but unscrupulous man. Tom must navigate a series of misunderstandings, mistaken identities, and dangerous situations in order to win Sophia's hand and live happily ever after. The novel is a classic example of the picaresque genre, which follows the adventures of a roguish hero as he travels through various social classes and situations. Fielding's writing is known for its wit, humor, and social commentary, and The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling is considered one of his greatest works.1907. Tom Jones is rightly regarded as Fielding's greatest work, and one of the first and most influential of English novels. At the center of one of the most ingenious plots in English fiction stands a hero whose actions were as shocking in their day as we might find them funny today. Tom Jones, a young man of questionable birth, is raised as the son of a member of the minor gentry, only to fall prey to the cruelties of his malicious cousin and the wiles of the neighboring heiress. Readers have reveled in the classic adventures of the randy and rambunctious Tom Jones for generations now and will most likely continue to do so for years to come. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
