Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

My Imprisonments: Memoirs Of Silvio Pellico Da Saluzzo is a captivating autobiographical account of the life of Silvio Pellico, an Italian writer and patriot who was imprisoned for his political beliefs during the early 19th century. The book details Pellico's experiences as a prisoner in various Austrian jails, including the infamous Spielberg fortress, where he spent nearly a decade in solitary confinement. Through Pellico's vivid descriptions, readers are transported into the harsh and oppressive world of the prison system, where Pellico and his fellow inmates endured physical and emotional torture, illness, and isolation. Despite the bleakness of his circumstances, Pellico maintains a resilient spirit throughout the book, drawing strength from his faith and his love of literature. His memoirs also offer a glimpse into the social and political climate of Italy during this time, as well as the struggle for independence and the role of intellectuals in shaping the national identity. My Imprisonments is a powerful and moving account of one man's fight for freedom and self-expression, as well as a testament to the human spirit's ability to endure in the face of adversity. It remains a classic work of Italian literature and a valuable historical document for anyone interested in the struggles for political and cultural autonomy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
