Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""A Pageant of Elizabethan Poetry"" is a comprehensive anthology of the most significant poems written during the Elizabethan era, edited and introduced by Arthur Symons. The Elizabethan period, which lasted from 1558 to 1603, was a time of great literary achievement in England, with poets such as William Shakespeare, Edmund Spenser, and Christopher Marlowe producing some of the most enduring works in the English language.Symons' anthology includes a wide range of poems from this period, including sonnets, songs, elegies, and epigrams. The collection is organized thematically, with sections devoted to love poetry, religious poetry, nature poetry, and more. Each poem is accompanied by an introduction that provides context and historical background, as well as a brief analysis of the poem's themes and literary techniques. In addition to the well-known works of Shakespeare and Spenser, ""A Pageant of Elizabethan Poetry"" also includes lesser-known but equally important poets such as Sir Philip Sidney, Thomas Campion, and Fulke Greville. Symons' anthology is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the literature and culture of the Elizabethan era, as well as for students and scholars of English literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
