Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Incognita is a play written by William Congreve in the late 17th century. The play is set in the city of Madrid and revolves around the story of a young nobleman named Don Carlos, who falls in love with a mysterious woman named Incognita. Don Carlos is determined to uncover the identity of Incognita, and his search leads him on a series of adventures and misadventures. As the play unfolds, Don Carlos becomes increasingly obsessed with Incognita, and his efforts to uncover her identity become more and more desperate. Meanwhile, Incognita herself is struggling to keep her true identity a secret, even as she falls deeper in love with Don Carlos. The play is known for its witty dialogue and complex characters, and it deals with themes of love, identity, and deception. It is considered one of Congreve's most accomplished works, and it remains a popular choice for theater productions and literary analysis today. Here Aurelian contracted an acquaintance with Persons of Worth of several Countries, but among the rest an intimacy with a Gentleman of Quality of Spain, and Nephew to the Archbishop of Toledo, who had so wrought himself into the Affections of Aurelian, through a Conformity of Temper, an Equality in Years, and something of resemblance in Feature and Proportion, that he look'd upon him as his second self. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
