""North, South and Over the Sea"" is a novel written by M.E. Francis. The book is set in the early 20th century and follows the story of a young woman named Joan. Joan is a strong-willed and independent woman who is determined to make her own way in life. She travels from her home in England to Canada, where she meets a man named Jim. The two fall in love and begin a new life together in the rugged Canadian wilderness. However, their happiness is short-lived as the outbreak of World War I forces Jim to leave Joan and join the army. Joan is left alone to struggle with her own fears and anxieties while waiting for Jim's return. As the war progresses, Joan's life takes unexpected turns and she must navigate a world that is rapidly changing.
