Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""On Old Age"" is a philosophical treatise written by the Roman orator and statesman, Marcus Tullius Cicero, in which he discusses the virtues and challenges of aging. The book is written as a dialogue between Cicero and his friend Atticus, and covers a range of topics related to old age, including physical decline, the loss of friends and loved ones, and the importance of maintaining a sense of purpose and dignity in one's later years. Cicero draws on examples from history and literature to illustrate his points, and argues that old age can be a time of great wisdom and fulfillment, if approached with the right attitude. The book is a classic of ancient Roman literature and has been widely read and studied for its insights into the human experience of aging. What then is the purpose of such a long disquisition on Maximus? It is because you now see that an old age like his cannot conscientiously be called unhappy. Yet it is after all true that everybody cannot be a Scipio or a Maximus, with stormings of cities, with battles by land and sea, with wars in which they themselves commanded, and with triumphs to recall. Besides this there is a quiet, pure, and cultivated life which produces a calm and gentle old age. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
