""Poems 1786"" is a collection of poems written by Helen Maria Williams, a British writer and poet who was active during the late 18th century. The collection features a variety of poems that explore themes such as love, nature, and politics. Williams was known for her politically charged poetry, and many of the poems in this collection reflect her interest in the French Revolution and the social and political upheaval of the time. The collection also includes several sonnets, which are a traditional form of poetry that Williams was particularly skilled at. Overall, ""Poems 1786"" is a significant work in the canon of British Romantic poetry and provides a fascinating glimpse into the cultural and political landscape of the late 18th century.Meek Twilight! soften the declining day, And bring the hour my pensive spirit loves; When, o'er the mountain flow descends the ray That gives to silence the deserted groves. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
