Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Running A Thousand Miles For Freedom Or The Escape Of William And Ellen Craft From Slavery by William Craft is a compelling autobiographical account of the escape of a slave couple from the South to the North in the mid-19th century. The book chronicles the harrowing journey of William and Ellen Craft as they flee from their masters in Georgia, using their wits and ingenuity to evade capture and make their way to freedom in Philadelphia. The story is told in vivid detail, describing the couple's disguises and the risks they took to avoid detection, as well as the challenges they faced as they traveled through unfamiliar territory. The book also provides a firsthand account of the brutality and dehumanization of slavery, as well as the courage and resilience of those who fought against it. Written by William Craft himself, the book offers a unique perspective on the experience of slavery and the struggle for freedom, and is considered a classic of African American literature. It is a powerful and inspiring story of human endurance and determination, and a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of oppression. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
