Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Slavery Ordained Of God is a book written by Reverend Fred A. Ross. The book explores the religious justification of slavery in the United States during the 19th century. Ross argues that slavery was not only a legal and economic institution, but also a religious one, ordained by God. He draws upon biblical passages and interpretations to support his claims, and argues that slavery was a necessary part of God's plan for the world. The book provides insight into the religious beliefs and attitudes towards slavery during a time of great social and political upheaval in the United States.Sir, you have left out the very idea which contains the sense of that Scripture. It is this: Christ, in his rule, presupposes that the man to whom he gives it knows, and from the Bible, (or providence, or natural conscience, so far as in harmony with the Bible,) the various relations in which God has placed him; and the respective duties in those relations; i.e. The rule assumes that he KNOWS what he OUGHT to expect or desire in similar circumstances. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
