Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

"" Songs of Two Nations"" is a collection of poems written by Algernon Charles Swinburne. The book is divided into two parts, the first part is titled ""Songs before Sunrise"" and the second part is titled ""Songs of the Springtides"". The poems in the first part deal with the political and social issues of Italy and France during the 19th century. Swinburne expresses his support for the Italian and French revolutions and their struggle for independence. The second part of the book contains poems that celebrate the beauty of nature and the changing seasons. The poems in this section are more personal and introspective, and they reflect on the themes of love, loss, and mortality. Swinburne's writing is characterized by his use of vivid imagery, rich language, and musical rhythms. The book is considered a masterpiece of Victorian poetry and a significant contribution to the Romantic movement.Who shall help me? who shall take me by the hand? Who shall teach mine eyes to see, my feet to stand, Now my foes have stripped and wounded me by night? Who shall heal me? who shall come to take my part? Who shall set me as a seal upon his heart, As a seal upon his arm made bare for fight? This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
