Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Sons of the Soil is a novel written by the French author Honore De Balzac. The story is set in the rural region of France and revolves around the lives of the peasants who work on the land. The main character is a wealthy landowner named Philippe Bridau, who returns to his hometown after serving in the army. He is disappointed to find that his family's estate has fallen into disrepair and is now in debt. Philippe sets out to restore the estate to its former glory, but he soon realizes that the peasants who work on the land are unhappy and oppressed. He becomes determined to improve their lives and fight against the corrupt and greedy local officials who exploit them. The novel explores themes of social inequality, justice, and the struggle for power in a changing society. It is a powerful and thought-provoking work that offers a vivid portrait of rural life in 19th century France. It is true that to understand the delights of country life one must have something to do, some interests in it; one must know the nature of the work to be done, and the alternating harmony of toil and pleasure,--eternal symbol of human life. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
