Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Deserted Woman is a novel written by Honore De Balzac and originally published in French in 1830. The story revolves around the main character, Madame Jules, who is abandoned by her husband and left to fend for herself in Paris. Madame Jules is a beautiful and intelligent woman who is forced to confront the harsh realities of life as a single woman in 19th century Paris. As the story progresses, Madame Jules becomes involved with several different men, each of whom offers her a different kind of support and companionship. However, she soon discovers that none of these relationships are truly fulfilling and that she is still searching for something more.Throughout the novel, Balzac explores themes of love, betrayal, and the struggles of women in a patriarchal society. He also offers a vivid portrait of Parisian life during this time period, depicting the city as a place of both beauty and danger.Overall, The Deserted Woman is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that offers a glimpse into the lives of women in 19th century France. Balzac's writing is both insightful and engaging, making this book a must-read for fans of classic literature. The figure of the Vicomtesse de Beauseant rose up suddenly before him with gracious thronging associations. She was a new world for him, a world of fears and hopes, a world to fight for and to conquer. Inevitably he felt the contrast between this vision and the human beings in the shabby room; and then, in truth, she was a woman. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
