Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Examination of the Prophecies is a book written by Thomas Paine, a prominent figure in the American Revolution and a writer of political and philosophical works. The book is an analysis of the prophecies found in the Bible, specifically those relating to the Jewish people and the coming of the Messiah.Paine examines the prophecies in detail, discussing their historical context and the events they predict. He argues that many of the prophecies have already been fulfilled, and that others are either vague or have been misinterpreted. The book also includes Paine's views on religion and his belief in a rational, naturalistic approach to understanding the world. He criticizes organized religion and argues that individuals should be free to interpret the Bible for themselves.Overall, The Examination of the Prophecies is a thought-provoking work that challenges traditional religious beliefs and encourages readers to think critically about the Bible and its teachings.I pass over the absurdity of seeing and following a star in the day time, as a man would a 'Will with the whip,' or a candle and lantern at night; and also that of seeing it in the east, when themselves came from the east; for could such a thing be seen at all to serve them for a guide, it must be in the west to them. I confine myself solely to the passage called a prophecy of Jesus Christ. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
