Despite their different backgrounds, Julia and Lloyd fall in love and begin a passionate romance. However, their relationship is threatened by the disapproval of Lloyd's wealthy family and the secrets that Julia is keeping from him.The novel explores themes of love, family, and social class, as well as the challenges that women faced in the early 20th century. A great blight of utter discouragement swept over her--she never could do it! Her mother-- all her kin--seemed to take shadowy shape to menace this little haven she had found. Chester--suppose he should find her! Suppose Mark should! Sooner or later some one must discover where she was. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
