The book explores the concept of Platonic love and its role in poetry and society. Fletcher argues that the pursuit of beauty is a religious experience, and that women are the embodiment of this beauty. He also discusses the idea of Platonic love as a spiritual connection between individuals, rather than a physical one. The essays are written in a scholarly style, and draw on a range of sources from ancient Greek philosophy to modern literature. The book is a thought-provoking exploration of the nature of love and beauty, and its impact on our lives and society. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
