Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Studies On Homer And The Homeric Age V2: Olympus Or The Religion Of The Homeric Age"" by William E. Gladstone is a comprehensive exploration of the religious beliefs and practices of ancient Greece during the Homeric Age. The book is the second volume in a series of studies on Homer and his works, and it delves deeply into the role of the gods in Homeric mythology and the ways in which they were worshipped by the ancient Greeks. Gladstone examines the various gods and goddesses that populate the Homeric epics, including Zeus, Hera, Athena, Apollo, and others, and he analyzes the ways in which they were portrayed by Homer and his contemporaries. He also explores the religious rituals and practices that were central to the Homeric age, such as sacrifice, prayer, and divination, and he considers the ways in which these practices reflected the beliefs and values of ancient Greek society. Throughout the book, Gladstone draws on a wide range of sources, including literary texts, archaeological evidence, and historical records, to provide a rich and detailed portrait of the religion of the Homeric age. This book is an essential resource for anyone interested in the ancient world, mythology, or the history of religion.""In Three Volumes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
