It delves into the historical and cultural context of ancient Greece during the time when Homer lived and wrote his epic poems, the Iliad and the Odyssey. The book also examines the various theories surrounding Homer's identity and the authorship of his poems, and sheds light on his influence on the development of Western literature and culture. The World of Homer is a fascinating and informative read for anyone interested in ancient Greek history, literature, and mythology.1910. While best known for his translations of classical literature and as a collector of folk and fairy tales, Lang also wrote poetry, biographies, histories, novels, literary criticisms and even children's books.
