Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""The Story of the Madiai"" is a historical account of the persecution and imprisonment of two Italian Protestant preachers, Lazzaro Madiai and his wife, Gaetana. The book details their struggle for religious freedom in Italy during the mid-19th century, and the efforts made by the American and Foreign Christian Union to aid them. The Madiai's refusal to renounce their faith led to their arrest and imprisonment, which sparked a wave of international attention and support for their cause. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the political and social climate of Italy at the time, as well as the larger context of religious persecution throughout Europe. The Secretaries of the American and Foreign Christian Union provide firsthand accounts of the Madiai's experiences and the efforts made on their behalf, making this book an important historical document of religious freedom and human rights advocacy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
