Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Jews and Moors in Spain is a historical book written by Joseph Krauskopf that explores the complex relationship between Jews, Moors, and Christians in medieval Spain. The book delves into the rich cultural and intellectual exchange that took place between these three groups during the Golden Age of Spain, from the 8th to the 15th century.Krauskopf provides a detailed account of the political and social conditions that allowed for this unique period of coexistence and cooperation, including the role of the Muslim rulers in creating a tolerant society. He also examines the contributions of Jewish and Moorish scholars in fields such as medicine, philosophy, and literature, as well as the impact of their work on European intellectual history. The book also explores the challenges faced by these communities, including the rise of anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim sentiment, the Inquisition, and the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. Krauskopf provides a nuanced and balanced perspective on these issues, drawing on a wide range of primary sources and scholarly research.Overall, The Jews and Moors in Spain is a comprehensive and engaging study of a fascinating period in Spanish history, and a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian relations. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
