Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Speeches of Aeschines is a collection of speeches delivered by Aeschines, a Greek statesman and orator, during the 4th century BC. Aeschines was a contemporary of Demosthenes, another famous orator of the time, and the two men were known for their rivalry and fierce debates in the Athenian assembly. The speeches in this book cover a range of topics, including political and legal issues, as well as personal attacks on Demosthenes. One of the most famous speeches in the collection is Aeschines' defense of himself against charges of corruption, which was delivered in response to an attack by Demosthenes. The speeches are written in a highly rhetorical style, with Aeschines using a variety of techniques to persuade his audience. These include appeals to emotion, logical arguments, and vivid descriptions of events and characters. Overall, The Speeches of Aeschines provides a fascinating insight into the political and cultural world of ancient Greece, as well as showcasing the skills of one of the greatest orators of the time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
