The book ""The French Influence In English Literature: From The Accession Of Elizabeth To The Restoration"" by Alfred Horatio Upham explores the impact of French literature on English literature during the period between the accession of Queen Elizabeth I and the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660. The author examines how French literary genres, themes, and styles influenced English writers of the time, including Shakespeare, Milton, and Dryden. The book also explores the cultural and political factors that facilitated the exchange of ideas between the two countries, such as the alliance between England and France during the Thirty Years' War and the influence of French court culture on the English aristocracy. The author argues that the French influence on English literature during this period was significant and enduring, shaping the development of English literary traditions for centuries to come. The book is a valuable resource for scholars and students of English literature, comparative literature, and cultural history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
