The Book of the Church is a historical analysis of the Church of England, written by the English poet and author, Robert Southey. The book delves into the origins and development of the Church of England, exploring its relationship with the state and the monarchy, as well as its role in English society and culture. Southey examines the key figures and events that have shaped the Church's history, from the early Christian missionaries who brought the faith to England, to the Reformation and the rise of Protestantism, to the controversies and conflicts that have arisen within the Church over the centuries. The book also explores the Church's role in the wider world, including its missionary work, its influence on literature and the arts, and its impact on politics and society.
