""Personal Religion and the Social Awakening"" is a book written by Ross Lee Finney, an American historian and professor of history at Ohio State University. The book explores the relationship between personal religion and the social awakening that occurred in America during the 19th century. Finney argues that personal religious experiences played a crucial role in inspiring social reform movements such as abolitionism, temperance, and women's rights. He examines the lives and beliefs of notable figures such as Charles Finney, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and William Lloyd Garrison, and how their personal religious convictions motivated them to work towards social change. Finney also explores the impact of these movements on American society as a whole, including the role of religion in shaping political and cultural attitudes.
