Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""The Story of My Wardship"" is a memoir written by Mary Catherine Jackson. The book is divided into two volumes, with the first volume covering her early life and the second volume focusing on her experiences as a ward. In the first volume, Jackson recounts her childhood in the mid-19th century, growing up in a wealthy family in New Orleans. She describes her education, her family's social status, and the various events and people that shaped her early years. The second volume picks up when Jackson's father dies, leaving her and her siblings as wards of the court. Jackson describes the process of becoming a ward, the legal battles that ensued, and the various people who were involved in her care. She also discusses the challenges she faced as a young woman in a male-dominated society, and the ways in which she navigated these obstacles. Throughout the book, Jackson provides a vivid portrait of life in the antebellum South, with its complex social hierarchies, racial tensions, and political upheavals. She also offers insights into the legal system of the time, and the ways in which it could be both oppressive and empowering for women. Overall, ""The Story of My Wardship"" is a fascinating and insightful memoir that provides a unique window into the life of a young woman in the 19th century South. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
