The translator, Chevallier, has sought to provide an accurate and readable English version of these texts, which are written in Greek and Latin. The Epistles of Clement, Polycarp, and Ignatius are letters written by early Christian leaders to various churches and individuals, offering guidance and encouragement. The First Apology of Justin Martyr is a defense of Christianity addressed to the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius.
