Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Doctrine and Development: University Sermons is a collection of sermons delivered by Hastings Rashdall, a prominent theologian and philosopher, during his time as a professor at the University of Oxford. The sermons explore the relationship between Christian doctrine and its development throughout history, with a focus on the role of reason and intellectual inquiry in shaping religious beliefs.Rashdall's sermons cover a wide range of topics, including the nature of God, the meaning of faith, the role of tradition in religious practice, and the relationship between religion and morality. He draws on a variety of sources, including scripture, philosophy, and history, to provide a nuanced and thoughtful perspective on these issues.Throughout the book, Rashdall emphasizes the importance of intellectual rigor and critical inquiry in the development of Christian doctrine. He argues that religious beliefs must be grounded in reason and evidence, rather than blind faith or dogmatism. At the same time, he acknowledges the limitations of human knowledge and the need for humility and openness to new ideas.Overall, Doctrine and Development is a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of the relationship between religion and intellectual inquiry, and a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and philosophy of Christianity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
