Scholars from Reformed Theological Seminary Present a Comprehensive Guide to the Westminster Confession for Modern Readers What is Reformed theology? In 1646, a group of theologians composed what is arguably the most comprehensive statement of faith, the Westminster Confession. Their efforts to preserve Protestant theology against opposing beliefs endured. Today, amid growing interest in Reformed Christianity, the Westminster Confession remains an indispensable guide for living out doctrine, worship, and church governance sola Scriptura, "by Scripture alone."This essential collection of essays presents an accessible guide to the Westminster Confession of Faith for 21st-century readers. Each chapter is devoted to a section of the historic document, carefully studying its context, its significance to the faith, and its application, as well as any controversies. Clear, thorough explanations of principles, including the Trinity, creation, providence, baptism, last judgment, and more, make this the definitive guide on Reformed Christian doctrine. The essays are written by faculty from Reformed Theological Seminary in their areas of expertise, ensuring a trustworthy and high-quality text for church leaders, teachers and students of theology, and laypeople.
