Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""A Commonwealth of Women"" is a play written by Thomas D'Urfey and first performed at the Theater Royal by Their Majesties Servants in 1886. The play is set in the fictional country of Amazonia, where women rule and men are subservient. The story follows the adventures of a group of men who are shipwrecked on the island and must navigate the matriarchal society. The play explores themes of gender roles, power dynamics, and the struggle for equality. D'Urfey's witty and satirical writing style makes for an entertaining read, and the play's commentary on gender and society is still relevant today. This edition includes the original text of the play, as well as an introduction and notes on the historical context and significance of the work. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
