Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Andersonville And Other War Prisons (1890) is a historical book written by Jefferson Davis, the former President of the Confederate States of America. The book provides a detailed account of the conditions and treatment of prisoners of war during the American Civil War, particularly at the infamous Andersonville prison in Georgia.Davis draws on his own experiences as a prisoner of war and his extensive research to shed light on the harsh realities of life in Confederate and Union prisons. He describes the overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, the lack of medical care, and the brutal treatment of prisoners by guards. The book also includes accounts of other war prisons, including Camp Chase in Ohio and Fort Delaware in Delaware. Davis provides insight into the differences between Confederate and Union prison systems and argues that both sides were responsible for the mistreatment of prisoners.Andersonville And Other War Prisons is a valuable historical document that offers a unique perspective on the Civil War and the treatment of prisoners of war. While controversial due to Davis's involvement with the Confederacy, the book remains an important resource for scholars and anyone interested in the history of the Civil War.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
