Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Claudian As An Historical Authority"" is a book written by James Harold Edward Crees in 1908. The book explores the historical significance of Claudian, a Roman poet who lived in the 4th century AD. Claudian was a court poet for Emperor Honorius and his works provide valuable insights into the political and social situation of the Roman Empire during his time.Crees analyzes Claudian's writings and argues that they can be used as a reliable historical source. He examines Claudian's depiction of important events such as the Gothic War and the usurpation of John, and compares them with other historical accounts to determine their accuracy. The book also delves into Claudian's literary style and his use of mythology and symbolism. Crees argues that these elements are not just decorative, but serve a purpose in conveying Claudian's political and social commentary.Overall, ""Claudian As An Historical Authority"" provides a comprehensive analysis of Claudian's historical significance and his contributions to our understanding of the Roman Empire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
