Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Five Years of My Life, 1894-1899"" is a memoir written by Alfred Dreyfus, a French army officer who was wrongfully convicted of treason and imprisoned on Devil's Island in French Guiana. The book chronicles Dreyfus's experiences from the moment he was accused of passing military secrets to Germany, through his trial and conviction, and finally his eventual exoneration and release. Dreyfus's account provides a detailed look into the French military justice system and the political climate of the time, including the rampant anti-Semitism that played a significant role in his conviction. The book also sheds light on the conditions of his imprisonment on Devil's Island, where he endured years of solitary confinement and harsh treatment. Overall, ""Five Years of My Life, 1894-1899"" is a powerful and poignant firsthand account of one man's struggle for justice and the impact of institutionalized prejudice on the lives of individuals. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
