Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Sketches of My Life in the South, Part 1 is a memoir written by Jacob Stroyer in 1879. The book recounts Stroyer's experiences as a slave in the American South during the mid-19th century. Stroyer was born in South Carolina and spent most of his life working on plantations and farms. He describes the harsh living conditions of slaves, including their limited access to food, clothing, and medical care. Stroyer also provides insight into the brutal treatment of slaves, including physical punishment and sexual abuse. Despite these challenges, Stroyer remained hopeful and eventually escaped to freedom in the North. The book provides a valuable firsthand account of the realities of slavery in the United States and is a significant historical document. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
