Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Love For Love: A Comedy is a play written by William Congreve and first performed in 1695. The play is set in London and follows the story of Valentine, a young man who has been disowned by his father for refusing to marry a wealthy heiress. Valentine is in love with Angelica, a beautiful and wealthy widow, but she is more interested in his money than his love. Meanwhile, Valentine's sister, who is in love with a poor sailor, is being pressured to marry the wealthy heiress. As the plot unfolds, the characters engage in a series of misunderstandings, deceptions, and comic mishaps that ultimately lead to a happy ending. Love For Love: A Comedy is a classic example of Restoration comedy, with its witty dialogue, complex plot, and satirical commentary on the social mores of the time. Congreve's play is considered one of the greatest works of English comedy and has been performed and adapted numerous times over the centuries. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
