Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Imitations of Juvenal and Persius is a book written by Thomas Nevile and first published in 1769. The book is a collection of satirical poems that imitate the styles and themes of the Roman poets Juvenal and Persius. Juvenal and Persius were famous for their biting critiques of the society and culture of their time, and Nevile's imitations follow in this tradition. The poems cover a wide range of topics, including politics, religion, morality, and human nature. Nevile's imitations are written in rhyming couplets and use a variety of literary devices, such as irony, sarcasm, and exaggeration, to make their points. The language is often witty and clever, and the poems are full of references to classical literature and history. Overall, Imitations of Juvenal and Persius is a fascinating look at the art of satire and a valuable contribution to the study of classical literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
